Joan of Arc, the 14th Century French army commander and martyr, is the patron saint of all who remain faithful to God’s call on their life and to the truth, even to death.

She like so many truth tellers throughout history was killed for unwavering devotion to that which God placed on her heart to accomplish.

God often takes an unlikely servant to carry out his will, and when they succeed the powerful hate them.

Joan was only seventeen, illiterate and without any prestige. She was a mere shepherdess. Because of her simple faith, when God called her to lead French armies against the occupying English she didn’t know to be fearful or doubt.

Church leaders, the king she saved, and the civil authorities all conspired to have her ultimately burned at the stake although innocent of any crime. She loved God and her country and died for both.

God has ordained a plan for your life. It may be grand from an earthly stand point or it may be quiet and solitary, but you can be assured it is important. Your enemy, the devil, will work to dissuade and distract you from remaining obedient and faithful. It may cost you life on earth, but never falter in standing up for what you know is truth and to fulfill whatever you know God has asked you to do.

Your reward from him will always be far greater than any punishment man can deliver.
